POV – Persistance Of Vision

I am very fond of, but I am not an artist at all. Then you need a lot of power and speed to render a complete complex scene, and since I am working on a laptop that isn't mine, I lack both time's aspects. In anycase and anyhow here my production.

Objects and logos

This is the logo of the Tor Vergata University in Rome, made 3D with the POV Ray raytracer. The POV code has switches for adding animation, that e.g. can be made using tools like gifsicle and Netpbm to convert from PNG to GIF, when povray does not support GIF output directly. You can/have to play with antialiasing, background color, and so on to make it look better. [See Meta(font) section too]

A very simple optical periscope, made of three mirrors and two simple lenses, showing a surface with an image that is on a surface which is above the plane of the camera (in fact you can see the dark down-side of that surface). Thumbnails inside show the use of periscope with two different kind of optical guard ring (play with the switches in the POV source!)

A magnification lens widely based on the example given in POV Ray, magnifying a painted surface. (Thumbnail inside show another image).
